Actually, Santa Fe is for retirees who like to go to happy hour.
But it also made a nice setting to celebrate our second anniversary.
Russell has been so busy lately with the farm, and so our anniversary in July came and went without much fanfare. We planned to go out to eat on the actual day – but by the time he got home and showered, all of the restaurants (all 2 of them!) were closed already.
So, when his work slowed down a bit, we took advantage of a three-day weekend over Labor Day to escape to Santa Fe to celebrate 2 years of wedded bliss.
We ate. We shopped. We enjoyed each other. It was wonderful.
As I reflect back on our second year of marriage – and the challenge of being in limbo about where we would be living, then living apart for a few months, and finally moving to a town neither of us expected to ever live – I’ve learned that it truly doesn’t matter where I am, as long as I’m with him.
(Although being with him in Santa Fe is slightly better than being with him in Dalhart!)
