A few days ago, I posted about Becker Vineyard, which we visited on a little tour of the Texas Hill Country. We also stopped by the Duchman Family Winery in Driftwood, about 30 minutes outside of Austin.

We were joined by some of my dearest friends – which meant I ended up talking more to them than paying attention to the wine. When us girls are together, it’s hard to shut us up (as the guys in the picture could attest to!)

From what I remember of the few sips I had in between conversation, the wine wasn’t quite as good as Becker’s wine. See, I don’t even have any pictures of the wine, other than the bottles serving as a background for our photo shoot.

We also got a short tour of the winery, learning the different processes for white and red wines, how to adjust the sugar content, bottling procedures, and so on.

We also learned that they sell wine in kegs to restaurants and bars to keep it fresher. Unfortunately, they were not available for individual sale…

The highlight of the winery was definitely the setting. It was simply lovely.

There’s also a DELICIOUS Italian food restaurant called Trattoria Lisina. Highly recommended.

All in all, it made for a wonderful time with friends and family.

Wine tasting is one of my favorite past times. Sigh. Somehow I think there are forest fires near there…so hopefully all is well and not too smokey.
